Elsewhere’s Exchange, 2023
Elsewhere’s Exchange, an exhibition of BA Fine Art second-year students at Central Saint Martins (CSM), University of the Arts London, was organized as part of Summoning Queer Worlds and Imaginaries (Project-Based Course, March 7, 2023 – April 28, 2023).
Summoning Queer Worlds and Imaginaries introduced students to contemporary queer arts and cultural practices, emphasizing transnational and racialized perspectives. Structured as four-day-long contact sessions, including lectures, presentations, discussions, and a field trip to Newcastle upon Tyne, students were invited to artistically and curatorially explore issues of gender and sexuality from diverse positionalities. To conclude the project, the students were required to present their artistic contributions in a collaborative public-facing exhibit in London and submit a supplementary document that contextualized and reflected on their artistic and research processes.
The selected exhibition venue was a former bank site, and the students produced site-specific responses.
