TEACHING + RESEARCH
Understanding the relationship between artistic practice and theory as symbiotic, art-making and curating operate as active sites of knowledge production and dissemination in Qureshi’s approach to research. His work examines the intersections of sexuality, race, and social justice from queer, Muslim, and migratory perspectives through painting, filmmaking, curating, collaboration, and dialogue.
In tandem with his multidisciplinary artistic practice and research, Qureshi specializes in teaching feminist, queer, racialized, and decolonial approaches to contemporary art, filmmaking, curating, and artistic research, as well as arts-based research and research-creation methodologies. His courses employ a range of teaching modalities, including lectures, seminars, tutorials, and workshops, offering safe and respectful co-learning environments that foster the development of independent thinking, critical discourse, and collaborative modes of artistic production and research-creation.
